2009 may not be a year for Kedah to appear in The FA League Finale. However, 2010 is now a year for Kedah’s redemption. It turned to be reality  when Kedah blasted Terengganu out from the league at 2-1 in Darulaman Stadium a while ago.

The goals were contributed by Khairul Helmi Johari and Syafiq Jamal respectively whilst man of the match goes to Baddrol Bakhtiar. Kedah is scheduled to meet Negeri Sembilan at Bukit Jalil National Stadium this coming April the 10th.

At the same time, I’ve updated the profile pictures for the Super League Players of 2010.

I’m summoning all of you Kedah supporters. Let us drown that very venue with our blood, sweat and tears!

Just for an update, my recent session with Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Kedah (Kedah State Development Corporation). I had 2 sessions with them, one is for the Board Of Excos, a very fast one at that. It was done at Wisma PKNK, after the board had their meeting. I used a simple shoot and go method, whereby the only contribution light would be from my hotshoe flash bounced into the ceiling *ngee*.

However, the 2nd session was done in Regency Hotel on top of Mount Jerai for the Board of Directors (BOD). I brought together 2 assistants, eman and amin. We arrive a day before to do some equipment preparations. Accidentally, the 2nd session was split into 2 parts on an adhoc request. The first one was done before the BOD stepped into the conference room outside the hotel’s main facade. There’s a single light source for this one (well, apart from the bright sunlight behind that very buildling) to lit the subjects using a loaned unit of Profoto 7b 1200Ws attached with a strip softbox (yes, I used a strip) sizing at 180x40cm from directphoto.

The second part was the actual planned shot. I used 1 SB900 and 1 SB800 attached with an umbrella, placed on both sides of the subjects’ position left and right. I used the same Profoto 7b 1200Ws attached with a strip softbox as the keylight.

I’ve got to admit it was a tiring process handling the whole session. But I guess it’s fun receiving challenges from time to time. You should try it too at times!

I think that’s about it to tell. Don’t forget to leave comments :-)

While the first team of Kedah combating a battle in Johor recently and claimed their victory at 3-0, I went through a small campaign assignment for the new Lotto kit with the reserve team. Knowing there’re lots of equipment to be dealt with, I collected some crews from my phonebook – Eman, Hanif and Hakim.

I managed to find a spot in the stadium area with enough room to play with. However, the challenge was the overflowing light coming in through the grills of the huge barn-like doors. From the lighting point of view, it was a very tight 4-point setup:

  • One Profoto-7b 1200Ws for the keylight attached with a softbox
  • Two Nikon SB800 as rimlight on the left and right of subject
  • One Nikon SB900 as backlight

The video was done in 720p using Eman’s Nikon D300s and trimmed for youtube’s usage. Not quite a professional video at that, really, but it does its purpose for me. Right, for the sake of fun, I threw in Carmen’s Hanabera into the video clip. Except for the video, you won’t get to see the finished portraitures in this entry; hence they’re all intended for the new KFA portal. Don’t forget to leave comments. Enjoy :-)

Shafrizal is a very good friend of mine. I’ve been knowing him ever since our childhood years. We’ve been to the same tuitions together, same highschool together until we broke our path to different boarding schools. He ended his bachelorship recently with Dima, an educator by career and originating from Terengganu.

To Shaf and Dima, till death do you both part :-)

I’ve had the chance to strobe some cars recently. Just happened that some of my friends have been kind enough to let their cars to pose for me.

It was a bulb setup with the camera on tripod (obviously). When the shutter goes open, Menn and I went around the car strobing with a monolight attached with a softbox.

Thanx to Helmi Eliza (Mieyeh), Ferdaus (popeye) and Yusri for lending me their cars. Oh yes, thanx to Menn for assisting me at the so called session.
